The location is good, close to the pavilion gardens and a short walk from the town centre and some nice walks. The property itself was a little tired and run down but I understand they're in the process of some renovations. Our room was bright but very simple, no frills. It's a bit of a creaky building so there's a fair bit of noise from other guests moving around and the road outside can be loud when trucks are passing. The mattress wasn't the best and the shower/hot tap water pressure was terrible. The breakfast was included and was ok, nothing special but we never went hungry! However, the saving grace was the staff, they couldn't be more friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble - they even dried our clothes for us after we got back from getting caught in the rain and posted my coat to me when I left it behind in their boiler room. A very basic place to stay but with some of the best hotel staff I've encountered.
