The Erko has nice, helpful and efficient staff. Lovely leafy neighbourhood of mostly Victorian cottages. There are a variety of shops, pub and cafes with good coffee and food - although the hotel itself is quite popular and the menu there has a high review rating. The hotel its self on the second floor is about 15 rooms and generally very quiet, a secure back entrance with two flights of stairs up. There is a kitchen facility with some bits and pieces to go with your own breakfast, tea/coffee cutlery, hot water jug, fridge etc. Generous with towels, toiletries and comfortable beds. They are share bathrooms so if that is not something you can handle it won't be for you. But they were always spotless, and nothing was ever occupied when I needed them, at any time I've stayed. Be aware the bathroom with the bath, the shower takes a few minutes to get hot water. My only grumble this time around is this. It is the third room I've stayed in over time and it didn't have a chair, or desk, or mirror. I mean c'mon at least a chair. Partly my fault as I need to start underlining things I need as a less mobile person but a chair's pretty basic. Apart from that it is great value for money and you can't beat the location close to Newtown (5 min walk), Central (5 min train trip, then a couple more minutes to get on he city loop). King St and Enmore Rd have more pubs, cafes, cocktails bars, Dendy cinema, takeaways than you could possibly need or sample.
