Been to Nicer La Quintas with Better Amenities
I’m not sure why they call it a “resort” and charge a resort fee when the amenities are barely open. Poolside bar? Only open 1.5 days. Poolside grill? Only open 1 day. No hot tub. The spa isn’t in the hotel—it’s part of the condo next door. We booked pedicures but there was only one nail person so we couldn’t get them done at the same time.
The concrete pool deck is a legitimate death trap. We all slipped on it several times and saw loads of other people slip as well. Not drunk people or people running ... just normal people walking slowly. My friend full-on fell and hurt her knee and hip. I’m honestly surprised no one cracked their skull open.
Hot water shut off midway through a shower twice.
The restaurant was just TERRIBLE. We got seated, the waiter brought us our drinks, then disappeared for 20 minutes. We had to flag him down to order food. He wasn’t busy, just chit-chatting. We wished we just left because the food ended up being awful. How can a beach restaurant mess up shrimp? It looked and tasted like it had been fried hours earlier and languished under a heat lamp.
There were a few good things: views from the rooms were great; beach access was easy; the Perfect Margaritas were good; most of the staff was attentive; and the food at the poolside grill (the one time it was open) was actually really, really good (I don’t know why they don’t serve it at the restaurant).
At half the price, it would have be fine. But at this price we expected much, much better.
