Exceptional staff but Beware of hidden charges
The Harbor Front is a lovely small hotel in the beautiful village of Greenport, the site of a Bohacks Grocery store in the 50' s and 60's. The staff is very accommodating and pleasant. The young man provided menus for restaurants we were interested in checking out. He gave us an upgraded room- well for $30 extra dollars per night- not a problem and we were happy to have a cozy balcony a partial view of Greenport Harbor and escape the exposure to car exhaust with a first floor room.
The room was spacious but the rug had huge spots that were discolored from cleaning. The mim fridge was stocked with a variety of drinks and snacks.
The freshly baked croissants were an outstanding part of the free breakfast. Because we were charged a daily resort fee, is breakfast truly free? There was not free bottled water in the room although it was well stocked.
On check out I was shocked to have an added percentage of the room rate added each night for the resort fee. There's no pool in the winter and only 2 guests are allowed in the fitness room. Then the front desk had to audacity to say he would waive the daily parking fee... WHAT DAILY PARKING FEE - off season no less - no notification on check in of a parking fee. There is plenty of FREE municipal parking nearby where a guest could part.
I'm certain the young man was just doing his job but nothing about a daily parking fee was mentioned on check in. I can say ALL of the staff was professional, helpful, engaging and polite.
