First of all...this is still an excellent choice when staying in Chicago. Perfect location, stylish and trendy, comfortable beds, clean and modern, and excellent toiletries and bathroom amentities.
Unfortunately, this time around it wasn't as good as during past stays. I checked in at 7:30pm and was speedily (in a good way) provided keys, but when I got to the room, it wasn't the room category I had booked (Booking was King bed, but room assigned was two twins). It was also really close to the elevator.
When I called the front desk, they immediately assigned me a new room on the 7th floor (I had to go downstairs to get the keys) and when I entered it, two things were immediately obvious. While the bed was correct, the room definitely abutted the elevator shaft and there was a significant odor of food (possibly from the restaurant exhaust below?).
Buy this point, I didn't want to ask for another room, so I stuck with it. The smell seemed to get better as I was running the AC unit, but unfortunately, the elevator kept humming for quite a while and there was also a service door across the hall which was accessed fairly frequently. So a fairly noisy room.
Getting two rooms back to back abutting the elevator and the first room having the wrong bed type gave me the impression the hotel didn't care about my experience. I would stay again, but not in another room close to the elevator.
