Let me start by saying that I am a big fan of AC hotels dating to times where the brand was not part of Marriott.
This downtown DC hotel is not nearly as good as AC hotels in Europe (stayed in several cities including: Rome, Paris, Barcelona etc).
Unfortunately, the hotel is clearly under staffed, you will note pretty quickly that one folk is doing multiple roles which delays food and drinks for example.
All the staff is great, courteous and always asking how can they help/assist you. Cleanliness is great but don’t expect your room is made everyday of your stay (I stayed 3 nights).
One other thing that surprised me was the poor quality of the bed - my wife, daughter and myself came back home with sores in our backs.
Breakfast was ok - don’t expect to find a bowl with scrambled eggs…
Location is great - close to George Washington University campus (convenient if you’re assisting your student with a move for example).
In summary: I think Marriott’s approach with this hotel is: offer the bare minimum, low the costs (at all costs), maximize the earnings
I am a professional traveler and hate to give bad feedback but I do hope this helps to improve this AC to the European counterparts
