So, I accidentally made a reservation for the wrong day, and I’m honestly glad I did, because it meant that I had to make alternative arrangements. When I drove up, I couldn’t believe how shabby the exterior looked, and then I noticed an officer peeking into parked cars with a flashlight. I joked that he wouldn’t find anything interesting in my car and he replied, “as long as I don’t see drugs, I don’t care what is in there.”
We walked into the lobby and were immediately hit with the overwhelming smell of air freshener. The clerk sat behind a desk that was messy with piles of supplies and boxes and when she couldn’t find my reservation, she invited me to call for support rather than working with me. I can’t blame her, because one woman was bothering her to make coffee at 9:00 pm and another woman sat in the lobby on the phone and crying.
I spoke with hotels.com and realized I had made a mistake with the dates, but I didn’t care—you couldn’t pay me to stay in a room at this hotel. The person I spoke with hung up and tried to talk with the hotel clerk, but she got up and made coffee and missed the call.
I only saw the parking lot and the lobby, but it was dirty, dingy, and the paint job was atrocious (someone needs to get glasses or learn to use painter’s tape). It was not inviting and frankly, I don’t think it was safe. Hotels.com really should re-evaluate offering this property as a listing.
