This stay was a huge disappointment. We stayed at this hotel, probably 20 years ago, when it was a Holiday Inn. We looked forward to returning for our college homecoming. The overall facility is getting very shabby. Entering the driveway, we noticed the pavement was getting rough. There was no automatic door to facilitate entering with the luggage cart (also old and shabby). A brick was placed outside the front door to hold it open—dangerous. Front desk very good and attentive, but the staff was wearing ordinary T-shirts. No name tags, as I recall. Not professional-looking at all. We looked forward to using the pool and whirlpool because my wife has a bad back. But the pool had “failed inspection” and was closed. The carpets looked like they were the same as before and could use replacing, or at least a deep cleaning. However, the room was very nice and the beds VERY comfortable. But the telephone did not work and would not be fixed “for a couple of days.” The TV remote did not work and we couldn’t find any local channels. In the bathtub, the drain valve was coming loose. Otherwise, the bathroom was very nice. You should use a better quality toilet paper and Kleenex. The complimentary breakfast was adequate and was about what we expected. But the warmer for the eggs, biscuits & gravy did not keep things very warm. We had to warm up our food with the microwave. This is a beautiful facility—you are letting it deteriorate. Staff good; give them nice shirts
