Staying at Saint Kate was an experience. I give the staff, cleanliness, decor, and dining 5/5. I was put up on the top floor where I had an awesome view of the ice skating rink and Pere Marquette Park, which was decorated for the holidays and lit up at night. My room even had a Christmas tree, and functioned as the perfect night light. And I loved the scene in the lobby. I love live music, and although I didn’t get to sit and enjoy the performers, having that made Saint Kate feel like a destination rather than just a hotel.
What kept me from giving a 5/5 rating across the board was noise. The walls are paper thin and I could hear conversations in the adjacent rooms, which meant they could probably hear me too. In addition, I arrived late my first night and just wanted to go to bed. When I finally got settled in, and started to drift off to sleep, I could hear drunk patrons noisily roaming the hallway after the lobby bar shut down. This kept me up longer than I wanted, and after a long day of traveling and a busy day ahead, it was annoying.
I would stay here again if I’m traveling solo or with my partner, but I would probably choose another hotel when my kids are with me due to the noise…and the fact that someone might write a bad review about being able to hear us through the walls lol.
