The River Lee Hotel is a short walk to the University College Cork. Also near by, along the Lee River, is Fitzgerald Park and a pedestrian bridge you can take to get to the Cork City Gaol. In the opposite direction, it’s a short walk from the hotel to the English Market.
I did not get breakfast at the hotel. There are dozens of coffee shops near the hotel where you can get pastries as well.
The hotel restaurant, The Grill Room, is excellent. We had the fillet but the best part of the meal was the desserts. They out did themselves with the desserts. I had peaches and cream and my daughter had sticky toffee pudding. They were marvelous.
There is a large underground parking garage that is shared with other facilities. The garage entrance was a bit tricky to find because it is not next the hotel entrance. I had to go to the hotel front desk to get directions to the garage entrance. Once in the garage, you double back until you’re parking near the hotel elevators.
When I booked this hotel, I asked for a walk-in shower (aka a shower stall). I emphasized that I did not want a combination shower/tub. What I got was an accessible room, complete with a wheel-chair accessible shower. So, I cannot review what a typical room is like. I can say that our room was quiet and clean.
