Disappointed
We always prefer to stay at Hampton Inn, as they consistently offer comfort and reliability. However, we were taken aback by how different one location can be from another. We booked our room through Hotels.com, but only for a few dollars less.
Upon arrival, my husband check-in
He mentioned to the woman at the front desk that he is a Hilton Honors member. We weren't expecting any more taken off our bill, but she informed him that it wouldn’t make a difference since we had booked through a third-party site. This was surprising, especially since just the night before at the Hampton Inn in Jacksonville, FL, the desk clerk had gone out of her way to ensure we received a nice room being a member, and it didn't matter that we booked on Expedia.
It seemed there were certain rooms designated for customers who booked through Hotels.com. Unfortunately, our room appeared to be caught in the midst of a renovation. While some improvements had been made, such as the installation of a new bathroom door, there were noticeable remnants of the previous work left incomplete. The unsightly gaps where old trim had been torn away were evident, and the toilet paper holder hung precariously by a single screw. Even the hooks intended for towels seemed to be on the verge of detaching from the wall.
I urged my husband to becareful and avoid using the towel hooks, that the weight of a towel might cause them to pull away and jeopardize our deposit. Very disappointed with the room.
