The Witte Museum has a focus on Texas's natural history and heritage, with highlights including fossils, history exhibits, cultural displays, dioramas, and much more. You'll find several permanent exhibits along with a variety of rotating displays. You can also attend a variety of programmes and special events in the open-air amphitheatre and 2 indoor performance areas.

The museum grounds are a great place for a picnic lunch or a stroll, with the garden featuring local plants and a courtyard lined with magnificent oak trees. History enthusiasts are also sure to enjoy exploring the Spanish Colonial buildings found on-site.

Highlights of The Witte Museum

One of The Witte Museum's most popular exhibits is The Naylor Family Dinosaur Gallery. Here, you can see a life-size Tyrannosaurus rex that was found in the Texas River Valley, and young visitors can excavate bones in the Dinosaur Lab.

In the Robert J. and Helen C. Kleberg South Texas Heritage Centre, you'll find photographs and artefacts of Texas’s Native Americans, cowboys, and other cultural icons of Texas. Other exhibits at the museum include King of Beasts, McLean Family Texas Wild Gallery, and Kittie West Nelson Ferguson People of the Pecos Gallery.

When you visit The Witte Museum, be sure to make a stop at the Bolner Family Museum Store to find great gifts, souvenirs, and children’s items. The Market has a variety of lunch items, snacks, and drinks available for purchase, or you may bring a picnic to enjoy on the grounds.

You can find the Witte Museum located at the crossroads of Tuleta Drive and Broadway. Brackenridge Park is located nearby and is well known for its riverside trails, playgrounds, and train rides for the kids. You may also want to stop at The San Antonio Zoo or The San Antonio Botanical Garden.
