Anna's Restaurant is a long-established family-run restaurant located right next to Moskito Diving Centre (with which it is closely associated) in a narrow street leading to Phi Phi Market off the main street. To find it, when coming from the pier, turn left just before Italiano Bar & Restaurant. It has a Thai contemporary style with white walls, dark wooden furnishings and beams, beige-tiled flooring, and local textiles and art pieces hanging on the walls.

Anna’s Restaurant serves international and Thai specialities with a healthy twist. From ratatouille and Swiss rösti breakfast to som tam (papaya salad) and pad Thai, everything is tasty and comes at affordable prices.

Most dishes served at The Mango Garden in Phi Phi, as its name implies, include one of the favourite fruits in Thailand. At this cool coffee shop specialised in fruits, you can sample mango with sticky rice, as well as a great choice of smoothies and juices.

All-day breakfast is available at The Mango Garden, and you can enjoy here a wide array of coffees and teas. The venue is small, but its modern design, cool atmosphere, and air conditioning offer a refreshing break from the heat and humid climate of Phi Phi.

Oasis Bar & Restaurant is located in a small village behind Phi Phi Island Village Resort in Loh Bagao, in the north of Phi Phi. Made of any old things – wood, bamboo, and thatch – it has a very peculiar yet quaint décor that instantly gives you the feeling of being in an exotic place. 

Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Oasis gives you the chance to sample a good choice of local and international delicacies in a laid-back atmosphere. Seafood dishes are especially recommended here. Try their prawn tempura – they are to die for! Prices are also reasonable.

Grand PP Arcade is a small shopping mall in Phi Phi that hosts fashion and accessories boutiques, as well as a popular coffee shop and restaurant. Located in the northeastern part of Tonsai Village, 75 metres from Loh Dalum, it's a genuine family-run restaurant built in a very local style. The settings and atmosphere are rather laidback, like a peaceful oasis in a buzzing neighbourhood.

Grand PP Arcade Restaurant serves western and Thai food of excellent quality. It's particularly renowned for its breakfasts. With friendly staff, relaxed ambience, free Wi-Fi, and excellent food, this venue indeed is among the most popular dining spots in Phi Phi.

Jasmin BBQ Restaurant is set right on the beach at Laem Thong Sea Gipsy Village in the northeastern area of Koh Phi Phi Don. This tranquil part of the island only hosts a few resorts – Holiday Inn Phi Phi for instance – and is a popular place to get away from it all. You can enjoy the beach and a wide range of sea activities, such as strolling, snorkelling, scuba diving, island-hopping to nearby Koh Young and Koh Phai.

Serving Thai dishes (including vegetarian dishes) and catches of the day, Jasmin BBQ Restaurant is a very laidback venue where you can enjoy lunch or dinner at very reasonable prices. The small size of the restaurant makes reservation mandatory for dinner.

At Efe Mediterranean Cuisine Restaurant in Phi Phi, you can sample a good choice of delicious specialities, including fresh bread and hummus, kebab, falafel, and meats on skewers, just to name a few. Mediterranean cuisine covers a wide range of flavours, each of them originating from the different countries bordered by the southern European and northern African sea. 

You’ll appreciate here the relaxed atmosphere of the venue, and the commitment of all staff and management – they're always happy to explain to you what the dishes served are made of.

Phi Phi Bakery (also spelt Pee Pee Bakery) has something of a cult status due to its longevity in Phi Phi Island. Having opened in 1989, this unpretentious venue is part of the island’s history. Set in a 2-storey Phi Phi-style shophouse diagonally opposite Italiano Restaurant, the bakery is a spotless affair dressed in white and green.

Food-wise, Phi Phi Bakery’s menu is set around bread and pastry – you can sample a great choice of home-baked croissant, raisin bread, cakes, sandwiches, burgers, and even pizzas in a relaxed atmosphere. Prices are fair and the quality of the products is indisputable.

Unni's Restaurant is a Scandinavian-run business in the central area of Tonsai Village which opened in 2007. Unni’s occupies 2 prefabricated shophouses with an alfresco wooden terrace (a great people-watching spot), and a rather large covered dining room. The restaurant is set in the main lane heading north to PP Palmtree Resort, where all stores have been built the same way following the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami. 

Unni's Restaurant is spotless and offers a menu that contains an outstanding choice of international fare – think Thai, Mexican, Swedish and English. Unni’s Restaurant is also famous for its excellent cocktails, especially its excellent mojitos. It's usually pretty busy from 6pm onwards with its 'Happy Hour' and free Wi-Fi.

Mama Resto and The Cliff Bar are certainly worth a visit if you stay in Phi Phi for a few days. It’s a 750-metre stroll from Tonsai Pier to Mama Beach Residence at the western end of Tonsai Bay. 

You’ll find the restaurant overlooking an idyllic beach, in a cosy tropical seaside setting sheltered by towering and prolific limestone cliffs that mark the edge of the bay. Sunset dining here is nothing short of magnificent.

Andaman Legacy Seafood is a neat-looking restaurant within Phi Phi Andaman Legacy Resort. Its beachside setting offers great views of Phi Phi Ley. Legacy doesn’t break new ground, but it's a decent place to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Pretty cool sounds (think Jack Johnson and Tracy Chapman), together with attractive lighting are 2 factors that distinguish Andaman Legacy Seafood from the rest of the pack in Tonsai East. 

Carpe Diem Beach Chillout Lounge is a popular daytime chillout spot on Tonsai Beach. At night, it becomes a lively party bar, particularly famous for its nightly fire show. International and Thai food is available in the daytime and evenings, which are provided by the neighbouring Phi Phi Villa Resort restaurant.

Hippies Bar & Restaurant near Phi Phi Villa Resort is the archetypical Phi Phi bar with triangular cushions to relax on, a party atmosphere, fire dancing and overall late-night revelling. Hippies Bar doesn’t get going until about 9pm, but you can get a meal here pretty much any time of day. 

Watch out for the bar's half-moon parties as they can get pretty wild and woolly with international DJs, dancing on the sand, and lots of noise. When you're feeling peckish, you can count on their menu, which presents seafood grills that go well with a nice cold Chang. 

Phi Phi Princess is a beachfront hotel in Central Loh Dalum with an open-air beachfront restaurant with an infinity pool, a swim-up bar and sea-view pool deck with sun loungers.

Phi Phi Princess serves as a mass-transit eatery, catering the many passengers on tour ships. Only those with a penchant for impersonal service and buffet food will appreciate this beachside restaurant.

Rimlay is a big, 120-cover restaurant on the beach in Phi Phi's Tonsai East, part of the Rimlay Resort. You can expect some interesting deals here from time to time, such as a grilled half-chicken with veggies and priced-per-kg seafood. But don’t expect intimacy, chamber music or haute cuisine. In all, it's all basic stuff at friendly prices.

Tonsai Seafood Restaurant in Tonsai Bay is a bustling and colourful place most times of the day. But when the sun sinks into the Andaman Sea and the lights go up along the coastline, the restaurant attracts those looking to enjoy a rather relaxed and romantic dining atmosphere.

Breakers Bar & Grill is one of the oldest eateries on Phi Phi Island. This bar/pub/restaurant is located right downtown, attracting a constant stream of locals and travellers throughout the day. It has 5 rows of heavy wooden tables and benches, allowing for communal dining.

Over the bar, large-screen TVs show sports and news at a discreet volume. Breakers Bar does have a slightly indifferent feel to it – not unlike a school refectory.

Beach Bar is predictably a great people-watching spot, as it's the very first bar you see when getting off and on a ferry at Tonsai Pier.  Snacks, burgers, beers, cocktails, and beachfront seats all add up to make it an interesting place to unwind on Phi Phi Island.

CapuLatte is a smoothie/coffee/tea/juice outlet in central Tonsai Village. It also offers excellent breakfasts, salads, wraps, pasta and cocktails. It’s a good-looking, well-situated place, and one of the best people-watching spots on the island.

Cosmic is one of the island’s old-timers, offering the usual suspects on its menu from late breakfast to night dining. Its pizzas are certainly the speciality. There’s quite a bit of wooden furniture and accessories here, giving the place a rather rustic atmosphere. 

Khun Va is a bar and restaurant that serves pizza, spaghetti and fast food, with views out over Tonsai Bay, Phi Phi Leh and beyond. They have salads and stir-fried veggies if you want to avoid meat. Their servings are also very generous.

Once the famous Mama’s restaurant, Italiano has been fitted out to look more like a ‘normal’ restaurant than its predecessor. With the usual raft of pizzas, pasta, and ice cream, this is a little bit of Italy by the sea.

Papaya Restaurant is an unpretentious local venue on the eastern side of Tonsai Village, not far from the famous Reggae Pub. Don't expect fancy settings or outstanding décor here – the restaurant’s main focus is on tasty, genuine Thai food. That means lots of chillies, so get ready to have your mouth set on fire as spiciness standards are Thai, not western.

From phad Thai and tom yam to green/yellow/red curry and som tam (papaya salad), the food served at Papaya Restaurant is the real McCoy. Served in large portions and at affordable prices, Papaya is the right place to experiment with Thai cuisine.

Despite the somewhat playful name, Pirate’s House delivers Indian, continental and Thai food with a certain amount of style. This is the place to grab a juicy steak or good chicken fried rice. With chunky wooden tables and chairs, Pirate’s House is also pretty atmospheric.

Tonsai Village has several Pizza Take Away stands. Located at the pier and in the village itself, these outlets are a mishmash of east meets west. They use the Asian concept of a street stand, but sell preprepared fast food – specifically pizza, as the name suggests. The food is very cheap, but obviously don't go expecting a breathtaking dining experience.

Pum Thai Restaurant & Cooking School is a must-visit if you’re looking for a professionally cooked Thai meal in charming surroundings. Easy to find because of its orange colour theme, it's part of a 3-branch cooking school business (in Ao Nang and Phuket). You can enjoy authentic Thai food at its onsite restaurant without a reservation, but you'll need to phone ahead to book a cooking lesson.

A Phi Phi institution, The Rock is a breezy upstairs restaurant overlooking Loh Dalum and further. It’s a chilled-out place with equally chilled music, where no one has so much as even heard of the word ‘urgency’, so expect a calm atmosphere. While the menu does include western favourites, its Thai dishes generally taste better and are very budget-friendly.
