9 Best Places to Go Shopping in Jeju Island

Dongmun Traditional Market is a well-known and long-running indoor market. It’s part of a large commercial district in Jeju City, which also houses the Jungang-ro Shopping Street, Chilsung-ro Shopping Street and Dongmun Underground Shopping Center.

As the name suggests, you can find agricultural products, general merchandise, pottery, medicinal herbs, and blacksmith's workshop at Jeju Folk 5-Day Market. The livestock market is a children's favourite, with plenty of dogs, cats, rabbits and birds for sale. The Grandmothers Market (Hallmang Jangteo) sells seaweed and vegetables grown by elderly locals. 

Daejeong 5-Day Market, also called Moseulpo 5-Day Market, is the largest market in the western part of Seogwipo. This traditional marketplace only takes place on certain days, so it’s best to check the latest opening dates before you visit.

Vendors at the Daejeong 5-Day Market offer a wide range of Jeju specialities, agricultural and marine products as well as clothes and household goods. The Moseulpo Coast in general is famous for its delicious raw fish. After exploring the 5-day market, you can enjoy a meal at a nearby dockside restaurant.

Arboretum Night Market is a lively night-time marketplace held every evening against the beautiful backdrop of the Halla Arboretum. Jungang Underground Shopping Center is the only one of its kind in Jeju, stretching from Gwandeokjeong, the centre of Jeju City, all the way to Sanjicheon. For those who live in Jeju, it’s not only a popular shopping spot but also a place to meet and rest. Spanning a total area of around 10,000 square metres, you can find around 380 stores selling clothing, accessories, cosmetics, shoes and snacks.

Some shops are open to bargaining; remember to be polite and smile when haggling with the friendly vendors. If you come out at Exit 3, you will be connected to Chilsung-ro, so you can explore Central Underground Shopping Mall and Chilsung-ro together.

Chilsung-ro Shopping Town is an excellent shopping street adjacent to Dongmun Market and Jungang Underground Shopping Mall. As Jeju doesn’t have any department stores, the street is a great alternative.

Chilsung-ro is popular with local young people due to its high-end name-brand stores and distinctive shops with unique items, as well as its wide range of cafes. The area is not usually very crowded, so you can shop comfortably and take pictures of pretty sculptures on this car-free street in Jeju.

Jungjeong-ro is a shopping street with a cluster of attractive shops selling souvenirs as well as clothes, accessories and fresh produce. It’s close to the open-air Seogwipo Olle Market, where you’ll also find interesting clothing with fine embroidery and designs.
