Gatwick Airport (LGW) is the UK’s 2nd-busiest airport which ran commercial flights since 1933. May refer to it as London Gatwick, and it’s also London’s 2nd-largest airport after Heathrow. Gatwick Airport offers full service, low-cost, and charter flights to the UK, Europe and beyond. It was the world’s busiest single-runway airport until 2016 (that is now Mumbai). The airport has 2 terminals named North and South. Both have had substantial investment and remodelling over the years.
Gatwick is one of 6 airports serving the UK capital. It’s 30 miles from London near Crawley in West Sussex. The Gatwick Express train service runs from Victoria Station in London to Brighton on the south coast. The journey south to the airport takes about 30 minutes. Buses from Victoria also serve Gatwick – tickets are often cheaper than the train. If you’re driving, take the M23 which connects to the M25 and the A23 to central London.

If you’re planning to drive to Gatwick, it’s worth considering reserving short-stay parking. Often, especially outside the peak season, the price is like extended stay car park charges. Yet, it’s just a 2-minute stroll from the departure hall. Check rates at both terminals – it can work out cheaper to park at one terminal and hop on the shuttle to the other. The shuttle runs every few minutes 24 hours a day – the journey time is just 2 minutes.
