Birmingham Hippodrome is a high-end theatre in the Chinese Quarter that hosts a wide variety of shows including ballets, plays, operas, dramas and pantomimes. It's the home of the Birmingham Royal Ballet, but that's just the beginning of its wide variety of offerings. Numerous West End touring shows are held here as well, including favourites like 'Mary Poppins' and 'Wicked'.
Given the variety of performances hosted here, the whole family can find something entertaining for both kids and adults. Most shows last about 2 or 3 hours, but the length varies depending on the production.

It should be no surprise that touring West End shows are performed here, including stunning productions like 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang', 'Grease' and 'The Lion King' all gracing the Hippodrome stage.
The Christmas pantomimes are among the most iconic performances put on at this theatre, so if you're in town during the holidays with family, you'll be hard-pressed to find better entertainment. These pantomimes often draw iconic stars like Brian Conley and Joan Collins.

Good to know when visiting Birmingham Hippodrome
This theatre has just 1,935 seats, yet it's the home for West End productions in Birmingham and is among the busiest venues for theatre in the country, including the theatres in London. With all that in mind, it's best to get your tickets far in advance if you're looking to see a show.
Given the theatre's location in Chinatown, you'll also find yourself near numerous shopping and dining opportunities that can really complete your night out. While the local Chinese fare is incredible, you'll find more traditional English eateries around as well. The iconic Arcadian Centre shopping mall is just a few minutes' walk to the east.
